Fishermen sell wild gladiolus for $ 86,000

Two British fishermen picked up wax-like gray objects, most likely rare rare ambergris that cost tens of thousands of dollars.

According to the Mirror, fishermen Alan Derrick, 67, and his son caught a strange object while strolling along Sand Point beach in West-super-Mare, England, on the afternoon of August 21. Alan said that the gray wax block was the rare sperm whale, also known as the ambergris, that he had seen in the newspaper.

When checking in at his home in Somerset, Alan believed it was a ambergris. Father and son Alan sent samples to experts in Italy, New Zealand and France for confirmation. They also sold wax blocks on eBay for $ 86,000.

"The wax block weighs 1.1kg, is very thick and gives off a strong smell. Its smell is like entering an old, extremely wet building," Alan said.

Ambergris is a viscous paste from sperm whale. This waste is formed after many years, has the effect of protecting animals from hard and sharp food. Dubbed "floating gold" due to the value in the industry of producing perfume and ambergris is very rare. It can float in the ocean for many years before it runs aground on the shore. The sun and sea made it gradually turn into a smooth, solid gray wax block.

If confirmed as ambergris, wax blocks found by father and son Alan and Tom may reach tens of thousands of dollars. Currently, they are keeping objects in a safe.
