For the first time, there is an antidote for children in asthma
Until now, drugs for preventing asthma were available in Vietnam only for patients 4 years and older.
At the seminar on asthma on 22/7, Dr. Dao Minh Tuan, Deputy Head of Respiratory Department of National Pediatric Hospital, said that in Vietnam, one in 10 children under 15 years of age is affected by asthma. In particular, the number of young children with this disease is increasing, many new children outside the 6 months have been discovered bronchial asthma.

Medications for asthma have 2 types: Reliever, only for acute asthma, and for preventive medicine, regular and long-term use to help stabilize the disease, so that acute attacks do not appear.
However, according to Dr. Tuan, traditionally preventive medicine in Vietnam has not been used for patients under 4 years old. With these babies, the doctor can only tell the family to choose food, create a clean environment, stay healthy . and in case of necessity still have to take medicine of older children.
Dr Tuan said that Vietnam recently issued a new license to administer a new asthma prophylactic medicine called Singulair that can be used for patients aged 6 months, with the main ingredient being montelukast - an active ingredient effective High and safe for children. The drug is taken orally, in the form of nuggets for convenience of children.
