Found a mutant spider web because of radioactive contamination
Scientists are investigating a strange white spider web found in a facility containing nuclear waste. They were afraid that the spider web might have been mutated because of the radiation.
The spider web that looked like Spider-Man's outfit was found by some workers at the nuclear waste facility last month in the fuel tank.
Scientists fear that nuclear fuel can produce modified animals like Frankenstein. It recalls the story of Spider-Man, Peter Parker became a superhero after being bitten by a mutant spider at a nuclear waste research lab.
The spider web was found in the Savannah River Site in North Carolina, in a 300-square-mile nuclear waste facility under the management of the US Department of Energy.
Experts say that any organism inside a water tank must be exposed to nuclear fuel, meaning that an organism may have mutated after exposure to uranium.
The water in the tank contains used fuel rods that maintain a certain pH and temperature. If microorganisms enter this tank, they also have a chance to survive.
