Found mountains in the North Pole

An American and Canadian expedition found a mountain in the Arctic Ocean, and realized that the border between the two countries reached farther north than the current level.

AP said that in the past two months the ships of the two countries have been exploring frozen areas to the north of the Arctic Ocean - where almost no ships have come - to find out how far the continental shelf of the Arctic reaches . The farther the continental shelf is, the wider the seabed of the two countries' sovereignty. The Arctic Ocean bottom is thought to contain plenty of oil and gas.

The train did not have enough time to double-check the data they collected. But preliminary analysis shows sediment accumulation at the northern margins. According to Jacob Verhoef, director of the Canadian Natural Resources program, it shows that the continental shelf (and the border of the two countries) is farther north than it is today.

Christine Hedge, a member of the expedition, discovered the first evidence of the presence of a strange thing. It lies at a depth of about 2,562 m above sea level. After careful consideration, the scientists found it to be a 1,158 m high mountain, more than 19 km long. It is 1,120 km from Alaska state (USA).

' This is a mountain range with a long and flat shape on the top. Subsequent expeditions will help scientists explain important things about the Arctic Ocean history , 'said David Mosher, a Canadian scientist and participant in the expedition, speaking to the AP.

The ships also discovered a volcanic form buried in the ocean floor, but Mosher thought it might be just a mountain.
