Galapagos beach stinks because ... sea lions
Galapagos Islands are famous throughout the world for beautiful flora and fauna. But if you're lucky enough to have a chance to visit here, don't expect to see the islanders say lyrical words about sea lions.
"Sea lions are charming but they are also very foul," said Roslyn Cameron, development director of Darwin research station on Santa Cruz Island, in the Galapagos Islands.
The islanders were fed up with the sea lion's feces and urine in the plaza areas and along the "Sailor Beach" on San Cristobal Island, which became a special problem.
Currently, one must install a stainless steel water pump to discharge the sea lion's "output" after 8 am every day, when they go to the sea to eat or to the sand.
"Cleaning the beaches and rest areas is becoming a priority due to the degradation of infrastructure and the disappointment of visitors when visiting , " Cameron said.
Galapagos twice received the title of world heritage.
