Going to stay in-law, being stripped of his clothes by his wife, poor boy got a doctorate in Vietnam

Although he was the teacher of a great academic family, in his childhood, Uong Si Doan had to go through a life full of bitterness, embarrassment, and shame.

According to the book Tang and Thuong Luc , because of his poor family background, after getting married, Uong Si Doan had to stay in-law in Du Lam village (Tu Son, Bac Ninh today). With this wife, the two gave birth to a son.

The doctor's miserable life was stripped of his clothes by his wife

Originally very determined to study, but Uong Si Doan encountered a very stingy and fierce wife, whenever she saw her husband's friends coming to play, she immediately chased her, loudly scolding: "Long clothes are expensive, eat when you are full, don't lie down. Why are you talking so loud in the afternoon!".

Despite being scorned by his wife, Uong Si Doan was still eager to learn and determined to compete with life. He tried to hold back, ignoring everything to rush into the book lamp, sharpening the scriptures.

When the imperial court opened the exam, like many other soldiers, Uong Si Doan bought tents and cots to go. Unexpectedly, his wife decided not to provide luggage and fees.

Angry, he struggled to leave, no wonder she chased, stripped off his clothes. Without a cloth to cover his body, Uong Si Doan was embarrassed to wade into the pond to hide.

At that time, there was a girl in the next village with her grandmother bringing cloth to the market to sell, seeing this scene, she immediately asked her to ask her to see the end of the story and then tear the cloth and donate it to make loincloths for temporary use. Thanks to the strange girl's piece of cloth, Uong Si Doan was able to take the exam.

After passing the doctorate exam, he went to a strange girl that day, asked to marry her. Knowing that her husband passed the exam and married a cloth sales girl to save her from a bad situation, the ex-wife immediately ran to find a story. His new wife calmly said:

"I just took what she had ruthlessly thrown into the pond, but didn't fight for hers. As for the hat my husband is wearing right now, it's the king's ban, if you're good, just come take it off."

The ex-wife was so embarrassed to hear that, she left the village without knowing her whereabouts. The story of this woman became the subject of ridicule for posterity: "The long back has a peach hammock. Toan cloth has a royal robe."

The beginning of a famous family of fame

Uong Si Doan (1694-1793), born in Vu Nghi village, Thanh Lam district, Tan Hung government, Nam Son town, now Thai Hung commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province.

His real name is Giang Si Doan , but starting from his life due to the abstinence of Lord Trinh Giang, he changed his surname to Uong.

According to the Book of Tang and Trap Luc , in the year of Tan Suu (1721) of Le Du Tong's reign, the imperial court opened an exam. Overcoming nearly 3,000 Confucian students, Uong Si Doan ranked 6th out of 25 people who were approved by the court.

Uong Si Doan was the forerunner of his academic family.

At this exam, Uong Si Doan and other students passed the question about the state's governance of the court to write the name on the yellow board. Today, the stele at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam still retains the content of the exam.

Accordingly: "The issue of the book asked about the way to govern the country. The next morning, the mandarin read the book to read it. His Majesty personally examined it, determined the high and low rank. Speaker of the passer, the procession set of golden plaques. hanging out in front of the Thai study house.

At that time, the people who came to watch, shoulder to shoulder, wearing hats full of streets, all said that since the Middle Ages until now, this department is the most popular.

Next spring, celebrate grace. Giving clothes, hats, and clothes to be glorious, giving Quynh silver flowers to attend the banquet.

Show favor to give pure silver, favorably build houses to have shelter, according to the high and low rank to determine the title, grace piled up. Wrongly carved stone to erect stele at Quoc Hoc house".

After passing the pass, Uong Si Doan entered the road of mandarin, went through many positions, worked as an official of Huu Thi Lang Bo Cong, Duke Lam Dinh Ba and he was also the birth of one of the great academic lines in Vietnam. Son Nam Ha in the past and Thai Binh in present day.

In 1793, he died when he had lived to 99 years old - an extremely rare age at that time.

More specifically, with the new wife, the two of them gave birth to many children who passed high marks, became great officials, famous at the time such as Boi Luong mandarin, Uong Si Lang, Tri Cam Giang district, Uong Si Thien, Lai. Lang Trung is Uong Si Trach.

In life, each person has a different way of being famous, like Uong Si Doan's first wife is also a famous person, but unfortunately, famous for being immoral. When she stripped off her husband's clothes to humiliate him, she stripped off the last bit of fragile love between the two of them.

Clever praise to Dr. Uong Si Doan, who is good at raising the will to study, and also good at patience. What glory is the brute force with his wife that a gentleman must learn from? Uong Si Doan would rather hide in the pond than cause trouble, that strategy may not be good, but it's definitely not the worst.

The cloth girl in this story, both benevolent and dignified, have plenty of it. Uong Si Doan does not remember gratitude, can it be? Kinh Phu Nguyen An did not say anything more about Uong Si Doan's first wife, but logically, at that age, her personality was already too stable, saying more was afraid of causing trouble for the thin paper. that's it.

After that, Uong Si Doan received great blessings three times. One is peace on the highway. The second is to live longer than people. Third, his children all had great fame. That husband, that wife, those children, that career, nothing strange.
