Gold leaf helps to charge the phone by folding the finger

Equipment made of gold and silicon can create electricity when stretching fingers, help users.

Researchers have developed a small device made of gold and silicon that attaches to the body and can generate electricity by stretching or performing other simple movements, the Mirror reported on Feb. 12.

The device is 1.5cm long, made of two thin gold layers with a silicon layer in the middle. Folding the fingers creates friction between the gold layers, causing electrons to travel back and generate electricity.

In tests conducted by the team, the device generates up to 124 volts and simultaneously illuminates 48 red LEDs, which can be used to charge electronic devices.

"No one likes to be tied up with a power outlet or carry a kit." The human body is an abundant source of energy, and why do not we use it to produce electricity ourselves? " , said researcher Qiaoqiang Gan at the University of Buffalo.

Researchers are also developing a portable battery to store the electricity the device generates. They predicted the system would act as a power source for portable electrical appliances and a variety of other devices.
