Greedy cormorant swallowed giant cod

The elastic neck mechanism allows cormorants to swallow the whole fish in just a few seconds. While hunting in Skagen, Denmark, the cormorant caught a giant cod and decided to "treat" unfortunate prey at once.

Pictures of Peter Dam show that the greedy cormorant is trying to swallow the whole cod while the rest of the cormorants look envious.

The elastic neck mechanism allows cormorants to swallow the whole fish in just a few seconds.

They can swallow animals up to 0.8m long. Some cormorant species can also dive 45m deep to hunt fish.

These waterbirds often eat eels, water snakes and any fish they catch. However, it was once discovered a kitten in the cormorant stomach.
