Guess the emotion by typing the keyboard
Scientists have invented a software capable of deciphering people's emotions when interacting with computer keyboards.
Recent research by experts from the Islamic University of Technology in Bangladesh shows that we can predict emotions when we type a computer keyboard.
Accordingly, usually when a person works with a computer keyboard, we cannot distinguish their character or mood if only looking at a text product.
However, some scientists from the Islamic University of Technology in Bangladesh have created an intelligent computer software to solve the problem.
Specifically, this software will record all typing behavior of the typist. To facilitate research, the experts conducted two experiments.
In the first experiment, they asked 25 volunteers (aged 15-40) to retype the same two paragraphs in the novel 'Alice in Wonderland'. These people will also be asked beforehand to see how they feel in the experiment.
In the second experiment, experts collected various texts during the volunteers' regular use of computers and asked them to retype. Also, every 30 minutes, they will have to inform their own emotional experts.
After two experiments, the researchers used the data collected for analysis through their software. This program calculates and measures 19 attributes related to keyboard typing (speed, key transition time, pressing special keys .) and based on metrics standards for 7 different emotions. (happy, sad, scared, angry, disgusting, embarrassed, guilty) to make an assessment.
All emotional indicators, including love, will be discovered by this software
The results are very positive, the new software has the ability to correctly predict the mood of typists up to 87%. Sharing more about the research, scientists said, they believe that the application of this software in life will bring a lot of effects. Can be mentioned as online teaching or psychological counseling.
Through emotional software, teachers or psychologists can fully predict the mood of students or patients, thereby shaping accurate teaching and counseling methods.
Doctors can fully examine patients only by facebook chat
However, Myounghoon Jeon - a researcher from Michigan Technological University also shared a defect of the software. According to him, this software is difficult to predict the mood of anger or sadness of people, because in such emotions, few people want to sit in front of the computer screen and type the text.
The research is published online in Behavior & Information Technology magazine .
