Hammerhead sharks
The scientific name is Sphyrna mokarran, this fish has a hammer-like head. That strange rafting head is probably an adaptive way to help them detect prey more easily: when they swim the sensory organs above their heads are exposed to more water. In addition, this raft head also helps sharks detect weak electromagnetic fields where animals are buried under sand. Some scientists also claim that Sphyrna mokarran sharks have their heads as if to increase observation.
They occur in all tropical seas of the world, both in deep and shallow places. Weight from 400-460kg, 4-6m long; I have olive green or brownish gray, white on my abdomen. The teeth are triangular and have unusual serrated edges, slanted toward the corner of the mouth.
Especially, they only prey on the surface of the water or at the bottom of the sea and hunt mainly at night. Hammerhead sharks eat mainly stingrays (they eat stingrays, these spikes do not endanger them), small sharks and many other fish.
Sphyrna mokarran sharks belong to the type of direct spawning, without spawning, each parity has about 20-40 juveniles. Young children are born in summer and have a length of about 70cm.
There are many remarkable things in their reproduction: The bigger the female, the larger the number of offspring in each litter. Newly born babies are like their parents, just born, young children have gone away and taken care of themselves, not swimming around their mothers, not relying on their mothers.
The head of the newly born calf is more rounded than the head of a big baby , but their heads will gradually change during their growing up. Hammerhead sharks reach maturity when about 3m long.
They also have a habit of gathering into large groups, but so far they don't know how they gather into such a crowded group for what?
Hammerhead sharks are dangerous predators even for humans, because they are ready to go near the shore, into the bay, and the mouth of the river to feed. However, usually they only attack humans when over-stimulated. People also often entertain and catch them to get skin as leather.
