Handover 2 rare orangutans to Indonesia

On July 24, Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department handed over to the Wildlife Rescue Organization (WAR) 2 rare orangutans to transport to Indonesia.

Previously, these two orangutans were hunted and smuggled to Vietnam, the forest rangers conducted inspections and seizures at Thanh Canh restaurant (Binh Duong). This is a primate species found only in Borneo and Sumatra (Indonesia) islands, included in the red list of endangered mammals. At the handover ceremony, the Borneo Orang Utan Conservation Organization highly appreciated the timely action and close cooperation of the Vietnamese rangers in implementing the CITES international convention on endangered animal conservation.
