Health story of cosmonauts

It seems that astronauts (NDHVTs) are " steel athletes", selected among the strongest pilots or military experts, with the highest endurance. But that is not true. It is not rare that they also get sick in orbit, have to return to the emergency world.

In this regard, the great responsibility belongs to doctors who monitor the health status of astronauts, right from the first days they join the crew. When someone in orbit is ill, it is the doctors who will make the final decision: to terminate the flight or conduct treatment on the ground. If the mistake will be expensive, because there are times when the situation takes place very confusing, not standard.

In addition, some NDHVTs find ways to hide doctors from all about strong pain during flight. They hide because they fear the doctors decide to stop the flight. Because of how much effort it took to prepare, much hope to be put on the flight team, much of the money was spent, it was disappointing if the task was not done and had to return to earth.

Order: Terminate flight!

The most prominent of these is the flight on the ' Salyut-7 ' orbital station in 1985. The three-person fleet consisting of the flight commander was Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Dzhanybekov, the engineer Viktor Savinhkh and the researcher Aleksandr Volkov. They should have worked in orbit for half a year. But after only two months, Commander Vladimir Dzhanybekov was seriously ill from infection.

His health condition deteriorated quite quickly. With medications on board it is okay to reduce the acute illness. And people have to make a decision: Stop the flight. The fleet has returned to earth not after half a year, but after 65 days and nights .

Nine years ago, people had to stop flying by Boris Volnov and Vitaly Zolobov. They started working on the ' Salyut-5 ' orbit in July 1976. After a while, the NDHVT noticed a strange smell. It is doubtful that when throwing a container of domestic waste out, poison gas penetrates into the cabin. The health status of public health providers is worse and worse.

In August, another incident occurred - the lighting power was lost, the equipment, fans stopped working, the station became like a dead and disoriented house. In the murky darkness, with concern that the ship was exposed, the crew sent the ' Salyut-5 ' station back to its working state.

But severe stress and strange smells do not simply go to Zolobov. He began to suffer from headaches, not eating, sleeping and unable to work. An order spread from the ground: Emergency landing.

26 days of continuous consultation

Gennady Strekalov's fifth flight is an example of how even a simple scratch in the universe can become a complex issue. It is an incident that has caused headaches for medical professionals.

In 1995, while working on the ' Mir ' orbital station, Strekalov was assigned to dismantle the bathroom. Inadvertently, he scratched his hand. In general it is not a serious scratch. On the surface, no one usually pays attention to such trifles. And even on the Strekalov universe there was nothing significant for that incident.

But before long, his hands began to hurt, reddening a lot. A few days later the situation is still not better. Then the doctors started to really worry. During 26 days and nights, every day they had to conduct a consultation.

It is even suggested that tetanus is proposed. For treatment, doctors appoint a very strong drug, prednizolone. Luckily this drug was found in the medicine cabinet of the station. In general, Strekalov had to spend time without being gentle.

The ship's commander had kidney stones

The more stressful situation took place during the command of the first major aircraft carrier Anatoli Berezovy working on the ' Salyut-7 ' station . It was never revealed about this serious medical incident, an incident that required great courage from Berezovy to command the Salyut-7 ship, "he suffered from kidney stones. now revealed.

He bravely endured the pain so that the flight wouldn't stop before the deadline. It is a record long flight - 211 days and nights - of a NDHVT.

In the universe the complications are in an unpredictable way

So why is an acute illness suddenly occurring in orbital flights? The problem is that, extraterrestrial are other conditions: radioactivity, weightlessness, enclosed space . In addition to spacecraft, there are still mutations of bacteria and fungi with new properties. Unbelievably, for example they 'eat' metal, polymer materials.

On one of Russia's orbiting stations, a cave of bacteria was found on the window glass. Now more than 70 types of bacteria have been known to live on the international space station. Noise, stress, stressful working conditions, changes in the body's flight time, including the reduced antibody system . are also factors affecting the health of public health providers.

In general, there is no serious disease in orbit. Any disease such as stuffy nose or red-eye pain, if not treated promptly, can lead to serious consequences for teaching DHT.

However, the health of each flight crew member is closely monitored by doctors. The space medicine industry has accumulated a lot of experience and is always ready to assist astronauts.
