Heavy robots two tons set world records
Guinness World Records recognizes robots built by British engineers as the largest manned 6-foot robot.
Robot Mantis.
Robot Mantis produced by engineer Matt Denton in Hampshire, England, was confirmed by Guinness World Records organization as the world's largest 6-foot-controlled robot, UPI reported on Sept. 17. This robot is 2.8 meters tall, 5 meters long and weighs nearly two tons.
Mantis works with a person sitting in the cockpit or via a remote control. It can travel in many types of terrain with a maximum speed of 1km / h. Mantis is equipped with a turbocharged 2.2-liter diesel engine.
This robot model was inspired by Denton's "Star Wars" movie as a child. He spent three years studying Mantis fabrication and the first successful test taking place in 2012.
