The upright urban skyfarm is the design of Aprilli Design Studio, designed to create green buildings right in the heart of Seoul. It not only provides clean food for residents in buildings but also improves local environment through water optimization, air filtration and renewable energy.
The advantage of this elevated farm is that it allows plants to be more exposed to the sun and fresh air. Photovoltaic panels are installed to collect energy during the day and then illuminate at night, while supporting heating in cold weather. Skyfarm is not only equipped with photovoltaic but also with wind turbines to operate the entire structure. The Daily Mail quoted scientists as saying the skyfarms would be small ecosystems that help balance the urban community.
The first green tower is expected to be built in Jing-gu, Seoul; will provide fruits, vegetables to residents of the house and nearby.
