After a 2-week survey (observing with eyes and listening to the 'chirping' sounds of gibbons at dawn until noon), the FFI team consists of 31 people - led by two biologists Nguyen The Cuong - FFI and Brian Crudge 's 'population' gibbon coordinator - participating in FFI Primate Protection Program - has found a total of 129 rare and high-crested gibbon species in the gibbon sanctuary Screw (Cao Bang) - the place is said to be the last habitat of this ape.
According to FFI, this is the largest number of gibbon ever recorded since a population of this species (including 26) was discovered in 2002 in the limestone forest area of Trung Khanh district (Cao Bang), 17% increase compared to the survey of 'population' of Cao Vit gibbon (including 110 animals) in 2007.

Dr. Ulrike Streicher, director of the Vietnam FFI Primate Protection Program, said: 'Everyone involved in the Cao Vit gibbon protection activities should be praised for their tireless efforts. Their fatigue '.
Talking about the new results of the investigation of the 'population' of Cao Vit gibbon, Mr. Nong Van Tao - director of Cao Vit gibbon conservation area - said that he was very satisfied with the overall achievements of management and FFI and presented Hoping to continue long-term cooperation with FFI.
