Hitachi will soon have the world's fastest elevator
Two years from now (2016), Hitachi will have the world's fastest elevator with a top speed of 72.4 km / h, higher than the current fastest elevator of the Taipei 101 building in Taiwan (61.1 km / h, installed by Toshiba).
There will be two such elevators installed in the Guangzhou CTF Finance Center. The building is currently under construction and is scheduled to be completed by 2016.
At speeds above ground level, people can walk from the ground floor to the 95th floor (out of 111 floors) in just 43 seconds. Hitachi says it will add a special technology that protects people inside the elevator from tinnitus when they change elevations too quickly.
The elevator is made of heat-resistant materials and is equipped with an auxiliary device called a "governor" that activates the emergency braking system when the system sees that the elevator is drifting too fast, higher than the speed allow.
It was reported that Hitachi had built a tower 212 meters tall to test the elevator four years ago.
