Aircraft accidents are something no one wants to happen because they are always disasters that seriously affect the safety and lives of passengers. However, when the incident occurs, airlines are required to take appropriate compensation measures for families of ill-fated victims.

Most recently, aircraft disaster MH17 occurred but has not been officially announced the cause. The American Wall Street Journal quoted experts as saying that the government and airlines of Malaysia and the Netherlands are the ones responsible for compensation. The reason is that they have allowed planes to fly over war zones in Ukraine.

In addition, the Ukrainian government and Russia may also be subject to compensation in this incident. However, in the short term, most experts said: Malaysia Airlines is the first unit to be responsible for compensating the passengers' families.

So in the history of aviation, how will other airlines in the world pay compensation when an accident occurs?

1. Dutch national airline KLM - the disaster of Tenerife airport

March 27, 1977 is considered one of the darkest days in the history of world aviation. At Tenerife (Spain), two Boeing 747 KLM Flight 4805 and Pan Am Flight 1736 crashed into each other on the runway at the airport in a dense fog.

As a result, 583 people died instantly, two aircraft were completely damaged and this became one of the most disastrous accidents in aviation history.

2. Japan Airlines - Flight 123 in 1985

Flight 123 on August 12, 1985 is a domestic flight made by Boeing 747 - 146SR aircraft from Tokyo to Osaka. The Boeing has been flying 25,030 hours and has been repairing the tail in an accident 7 years earlier.

After taking off for 44 minutes, due to the pressure difference at an altitude of 7,300m, the repaired part of the tail broke, causing a failure, making the pilot unable to control and control the situation. The final outcome was the catastrophic stab of the Boeing into Takamagahara Mountain, killing the lives of 520 people on the plane.

Only 4 people were lucky to escape death in the disaster. The cause was later discovered: the plane crashed because the tail repair part was performed incorrectly so it could not withstand high pressure, causing the plane to fall and explode.

However, it is surprising that after the accident, Japan Airlines did not acknowledge its legal responsibility. Instead, the company sent the victims' families a total of $ 7.6 million (about VND 159.6 billion) in the name of 'condolence'. On average, each victim received about VND 304.5 million.

3. Air France Airlines - Flight 447 of 2009

On June 1, 2009, an Air France Airbus A330 took off from Rio de Janeiro to make the journey to Paris on a flight named 447. However, the aircraft brought 216 passengers and 12 pilots. This group has never completed its mission.

As it traversed the Atlantic Ocean, the Airbus lost contact with the ground completely and disappeared from the radar incomprehensible.
