How does the lamb receive the mother in the crowd?
The loudest lambs will have the best chance of surviving. Photo: AFP French scientists have just given evidence to support what sheep shepherds have known intuitively for thousands of years: the biggest and biggest beggar sheep have the best chance of surviving .
A group at the French National Agricultural Research Institute used digital recorders to record the beep of lamb and from there to find out the response of the mother sheep.
They found out that within 24 hours when the lamb was born, the mother sheep could recognize her beep and within 38 hours, the lamb could recognize her beep to crawl.
The file stored on the computer shows that each sheep has a distinct tone, different in nuance and depth, to help the mother and daughter recognize each other even in a crowded and crowded herd.
" The best communicating lambs will have the best chance of surviving ," said Frederic Sebe, the Institute's researcher.
