Hue: Golden Phoenix blooms

This phoenix species (pictured) belongs to the Fabaceae legume as the phoenix, whose scientific name is Delonix regia grown at Huyen Khong Ha temple (Huong Ho commune, Huong Tra district, Hue).

Flowers often bloom in the summer like red phoenix but have a dark yellow color (different from the golden message). In 2001, Phap Tong abbot at the temple asked for this seed from Myanmar, and through the time the phoenix golden developed well and adapted to the hot and dry climatic conditions. Thua Thien - Hue Green Tree Park Company said that it has bred to test some seedlings but has not yet put them into mass production.
