Identify deceitful people at work

If an employee regularly performs deceitful behavior while in school, they will not give up that habit in their daily work.

Some scientists from the University of Minnesota in the US study the relationship between cheating in school and cheating at work.

'The habit of doing cheating will last from the time people go to school until we enter the labor market. The relationship between cheating behavior and learning is so clear that we feel surprised, ' Nathan Kuncel, a member of the research team, told Business News Daily.

The expert team reviewed previous studies of fraud in the workplace. In these studies, scientists collected data about more than 1,500 people. They found common misleading behavior of students, including: inventing reasons for absenteeism or examinations, turning papers, writing other household essays, wide margins or placing large distances between lines to increase the number of pages of essays. Cheating acts common in the work space include: stealing ideas of colleagues, inventing reasons to rest, misrepresenting the amount spent on the company, writing reports to others.

The results show that the majority of people who have committed fraudulent behavior many times while still in school will continue to apply those behaviors when working.

Research at the University of Minnesota has great implications for business owners and HR professionals. Kuncel believes that they should eliminate the candidates who used to commit fraud when sitting in the school chair.

'We have clear evidence that their fraudulent acts will continue to be done at work , ' he said.
