Twenty years ago, dial-up, Yahoo, Google or online games . were tied to Internet users in Vietnam.

Network Dial-up

The "tít-tè" dial is a feature of Dial-up network, Internet connection technology uses the phone line itself. Connecting at a very slow speed of only 56 Kb per second, Dial-up network is considered expensive when it costs several tens of thousands of dong per hour. The famous services of that day could include VNN 1260, 1268 or 1269. Later, Internet connection was upgraded to ADSL network, coaxial cable technology and then to fiber optic cable in recent years.

IRC is a form of Internet communication that allows people in a group to talk to each other. This primitive chat form penetrated Vietnam in 1997 through Vietchat or FPT mIRC. Of course, due to dial-up networking, the cost of chatting on that day is quite expensive.

This is considered an indispensable software on the 2000s. Yahoo! Messenger boomed at the same time ADSL network became popular in Vietnam, used almost by all Internet users. Referring to Yahoo, many people will recall their "glorious" time with "malicious" nick, Buzz sounds or the exciting feeling of "online" getting dozens of messages each time. The higher speed network also allows all Yahoo users to share videos via webcam.

The online forum is one of the early Internet-based playgrounds that spends a lot of time. Memorable names like TTVNOL, truongton.net, later VOZ Forum, Vn-Zoom, DTTH or Webtretho . attracted hundreds of thousands of participants. The forum at that time was commented by some veteran users as "quality" now. In addition, the trend of websites or social networks also makes the forum no longer "as cool" as before.
