Is ice good for sunburned skin?

As well as using a cup of tea to stop coughing spells, an ice pack for treating sunburn burns seems to be the perfect method for millions of people suffering from the hot summer sun.

But many home remedies based on common sense are less effective, and the technique of using ice to fix sunburn is no exception.

It can help cool a mild wound but later slows the healing process. Over the years, this thesis has been confirmed during similar treatments for minor burns and sunburns.

In a chemical study conducted by Danish scientists in 2002, 24 volunteers suffered burns at an initial level cured by various methods. Some people are cured by cooling like ice compared to those treated with pain relievers, the wound and the inflamed area do not decrease.

In another study published in Burn magazine in 1997, some scientists compared the treatment of sunburn with ice with other remedies. They found that using a cold block of ice on the burn would harm the skin in some cases.

Putting a cold stone on the burn can damage the skin and tissue below. For quick treatment, when sunburns, only cool water should be used to clean the wound, and use painkillers. Then cover the wound with gauze, but do not apply the ointment. Most minor wounds will heal themselves without any other treatment.

And finally the experts said, "Never use ice cold to calm burns."
