It turns out that the iris may also have cancer, and what happens afterwards will startle you
There is one point you need to know that cancer is not a name for a disease, but hundreds. Cancer can happen to anyone, in many different parts of the body.
But do you know, can irises - or iris - also have cancer?
The disease is rare, but deadly
Iris is rare, but can be deadly. In medicine, the disease is referred to as "uvea melanoma" , in which "grape membrane" refers to a layer of the eye including iris, eyelid, and vascular membranes. .
Be aware that iris and grape membranes in general are very important for our vision . They control the amount of light entering the eyeball, by adjusting the iris size based on the surrounding pigment cells.
The parts of the grape membrane are green.
But like other cells in the body, the pigment cells in the eye must also divide and suffer the risk of turning into cancer.
And the way it is formed can startle us.
The case is real
According to new reports recorded in Medicine magazines, doctors from a California state hospital received a serious case. The 57-year-old woman was hospitalized in an emergency, after 4 days of suffering from the right side of her right eye, swollen and painful.
The report said that the person's right eye had not been visible in the last few years but did not mention how the process took place. Just knowing that the eye was badly damaged, the pigment in the iris spread throughout the eyeball as shown below.

Probably everyone guessed, this woman had cancer of the iris. The only way to deal with this disease is to remove the cancer - in other words, remove the patient's right eye.
But unfortunately, things have not stopped there. After sending the eye for testing, doctors also discovered that the tumor had metastasized - like at least 50% of cases of the disease. According to Lesley Everett and Thomas Copperman - two doctors responsible for the operation, the tumor has spread to the liver, lymph nodes and many other organs.
The patient died only 2 months after being diagnosed and treated.
