The source said that these buildings seem uninhabited. However, there are also information that some people are missing.

The local hospital also said one person was killed and at least 20 others were injured in the earthquake, which occurred at the height of the Summer Tourism season.

However, authorities fear many others may be stuck in the rubble.

At least one hotel and many areas in a hospital on Ischia island were evacuated.

The staff of the Italian Civil Protection Agency, which was deployed on the previous Ischia island to deal with forest fires, now checks the status of the earthquake-affected buildings.

Along with Capri Island right next door, Ischia is also an island favored by European tourists.

Casamicciola town on Ischia island was the epicenter of an earthquake in 1883, killing more than 2,000 people.
