Kill dolphins as prey for shark hunting

After secret investigations, the London-based Ecological Agency has released documents on the current status of 'mass dolphins, shark hunting' taking place at the peak intensity at area off the Pacific coast, Peru .

Although Peruvian legislatures have regulated a ban on the killing of dolphins in 1996, however, according to Stefan Austermuhle, managing director of animal conservation, the current state of killing dolphins is increasing, even topmost. It is estimated that more than 10,000 dolphins are killed every year in Peruvian waters.

In particular, in recent years, the boom in demand for shark meat has increased in Peru, their fins have been exported to Far East to make soup. It is also the main reason for the increasing killing of dolphins and shark prey. And not only in the offshore region of Peru, it is an urgent issue that needs to be addressed in most oceans in the world.

A fishing boat captain said, all ships were equipped with tuberculosis, aiming to hunt from one to three dolphins for each trip. He said that the implementation of the ban on mammal hunting, especially dolphins, is difficult, as the cost of fishing in Peru is increasing.

Initially, the authorities in Peru reported that mass dolphins are spreading in large scale because of a virus, but it is difficult to control and verify that. And now there is no official answer for the government.

However, the Peruvian government has promised to investigate the cost of bait, and is considering a ban on shark hunting to prevent the use of dolphins as bait. If this situation continues, no way to withdraw, dolphins will soon be removed from the ecosystem, extinct and that is bad news for the ocean.
