Lenove integrates fingerprint recognition technology for ThinkPad
On October 16, Lenovo announced a number of new ThinkPad models equipped with a fingerprint reader to encrypt information on a computer hard drive.
The new ThinkPad model is Lenovo's first laptops to use SafeGuard Easy 4.3 security software (built into the card reader) developed by Ultimaco.
In addition, Lenovo also enhanced wireless networking capabilities for ThinkPad models by integrating additional 802.11n Wi-Fi technology, and Intel Core2Duo processor.
In an effort to strengthen new security, Lenovo began offering OmniPass software (from Softex) to manage PC identifiers (including fingerprints and passwords) for selected models of computers.
To prepare for the upcoming launch of Windows Vista (January 2006), all ThinkPad laptop versions will integrate the ability to support this new version of Windows.
