Many scientists as well as Christians came to the church to witness the strange phenomenon with their own eyes. Devotees consider this a warning sign of the future.

"When the parish priest ended the Sunday morning ceremony, a sheep saw some drops of water falling from the Virgin's left eye in the picture. Boban parish priest took a towel and said the droplet smelled like aromatic plastic. After that, a few more drops of water came from the Mother's side, we stayed in the church all day and the water continued to appear , " said Risto Setinov, the president of the local church association.

News of the strange phenomenon passed to archbishop Stefan Veljanovski, head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church. Archbishop Veljanovski prayed in front of the painting and believed that tears were a sign of God.

However, some people think this may be just a phenomenon of condensation on the picture . The Macedonian authorities have not given an explanation about this phenomenon.
