Maurice Mikkers, a Dutch photographer, explored the invisible invisible differences of tears.

Scientifically, tears are divided into three different forms, based on their origin : the basic type is continuously released to maintain eye lubrication; the type of reflex that is released to deal with the irritating factors, such as when an onion or eye contact; and finally, the kind of spirit, triggered by emotions.

Scientists have discovered that different types of tears are made up of different molecules. For example, emotional tears contain hormones that act as pain relievers and are released when the owner is stressed.

Because the tears are condensed into salt, they also look very different when crystallized and observed under a microscope. Their structure in photographs is mainly crystalline salt, with different shapes due to the formation and drying out.
