Look up Google every day but did you know these things?

Everyone uses Google to find information on a daily basis, but not everyone knows how to make the most of its features.

In 2021, Google.com is the most visited website in the world accounting for more than 90% of the global search engine market. While most people use Google Search to quickly query results, a few tricks can help you find more detailed information, not 'diluted' by irrelevant suggestions.

Use quotation marks

Put the information you want to query in quotes, Google will return better and more accurate search results.

How to search Google effectively

Use dashes

Use dashes to exclude results that contain unwanted information. For example, if you type 'Apple -iPhone', you will get all results related to Apple except iPhone.

Use tilde

Add a tilde in front of the search term, its synonyms will appear in the results. For example, if you type ~cheap shoes, Google Search will give you related results like 'cheap shoes' or 'affordable shoes'.

Use a period between two periods

If you search for something but don't remember exactly what time period it took place, just enter a keyword and put two dots between the time periods. For example, if you enter 'hit songs 2000.2022', all the information about the songs that are trending during this period will be displayed.

Search by file type

If you're specifically searching for a PDF file, you can streamline your Google Search to only see PDFs in the search results.

To do this, enter a keyword and add 'filetype: pdf' at the end. For example, you type 'Jeff Bezos filetype: pdf', all information about billionaire Jeff Bezos will appear as a PDF file. This also applies to all other file types such as doc, ppt or mp3.

Domain specific search

If you're looking for something but only want results from a specific domain, just enter site:domain and info.
