Researchers call the ancient book "the power handbook of rituals" . According to Live Science, it revealed many spells, how to use love magic, ward off evil spirits, and cure black-gold.

The book is dated to about 1,300 years, written in ancient Coptic language. All 20 pages are made of parchment.

"Ancient books include many mantras with drawings, some rules or mantras for spiritual healing, success in love and business," said Professor Malcolm Choat of Macquarie University and Iain Gardner. The University of Sydney, Australia, said.

The book refers to the saint Baktiotha, a man with a rather mysterious identity, great power and ruler of forces in the material world. The writing style of the book shows that it is from Upper Egypt. During the time of the book, many Egyptians followed Christianity.

The identity of the users of the book and its origin remains a mystery. In 1981, Macquarie University experts bought a book from antique dealer Michael Fackelmann in Vienna, Austria. However, the reason Michael Fackelmann obtained the book is not yet clear.
