Make clean water from the ultrasonic tap

A team of scientists at the University of Southampton (UK) has created a device that produces clean water from a power-saving ultrasonic tap.

Equipment of GS. Tim Leighton and Dr. Peter Birkin emitted ultrasonic waves from a cold tap with the power consumption of only one light bulb. The highlight of this ultrasonic faucet consumes less water and less electricity than competitors' products.

With this new invention, Prof. Leighton and Dr. Birkin was awarded the Royal Society's Brian Mercer Award for Innovation in 2011 with a bonus of £ 250,000 (equivalent to over $ 8 billion).

After receiving royalties from the Royal Society, Brian Mercer, a team of Southampton University scientists will continue to work on products based on the ultrasonic nozzle.

The advantage of this device uses less water and electricity than comparable washing machines (nearly 2 liters per minute, compared to 20 liters per minute and consumes less than 200W of electricity compared to 2kW). The device's faucets emit ultrasonic waves and boom as water flows through and produces clean water.

If the equipment is officially licensed, it will be sold to food processing companies, hospitals, factories and families.
