At the same time, smokers also believe this more than non-smokers. A poll of 4,000 people was conducted by the UK Charity Cancer Research organization.

With the question: " Do you think you can reduce your risk of developing cancer or are it out of reach? " 27% of participants think fate decides whether you are infected or not. In poor areas, this answer increased by 43%, while in the richer regions, the number dropped to 14%.

But the survey also found that 34% of smokers and 36% of people over 65 believe that cancer is caused by the sky.

According to Dr. Lesley Walker, Director of Organization for Charitable Information on Cancer, it is alarming that a majority of the UK population does not realize that half of all cancers can be prevented by replacing change lifestyle.

" We can reduce the risk of cancer by stopping smoking, keeping a stable weight and eating a balanced diet, rich in fruits, vegetables and spending time exercising ," he said.
