Microsoft: 'We have complied with Korean law'
Today, Microsoft filed a lawsuit with the Korean Supreme Court on sanctions that its antitrust managers have applied to the firm.
Microsoft's new move is an anticipated event. Shortly after receiving the Korea Fair Trade Commission's penalties last December, Microsoft said it would take the case to court.
' Microsoft believes that all of our operations comply with the law, benefiting both users and the Korean technology industry ,' Microsoft said in a statement to officially bring the case to court. .
The official decision of the Korea Fair Trade Commission in February said Microsoft had "tied up" some software to Windows to take advantage of the dominance of the operating system on the market.
The committee has asked Microsoft to pay a $ 33.6 million fine and must provide two separate versions of the Windows operating system: a Windows version without Windows Media Player and Windows Messenger and a version that allows users to link links to websites that allow them to download other third-party software.
In its statement, Microsoft said: ' We will no longer be able to provide users in Korea with the same version of Windows in the world. Moreover, this ruling will create more difficulties for Korean hardware and software manufacturers, thereby reducing their competitiveness . '
