Multi-fuel motorcycle

It is a motorcycle that can run with two fuels: gasoline and LPG (gas). This scientific work was researched and completed by the group of students and lecturers of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in early 2012.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung, head of the manufacturing team: 'This vehicle reduces 50% of CO emissions to the environment compared to the current motorcycle.'

The above work was inspired by the use of two gasoline and gas fuels of modern cars in the market, combined with previous studies at Polytechnic University on the use of gas fuel for motorcycle.

'Need a new system to be able to use for motorcycles on the principle of cars. In particular, this system must have a flexible transformation in the use of two fuels' , Mr. Dung shared the problem that the group had to solve from the first days of starting work.

A gas fuel supply system is appropriately designed by the group to integrate into the gasoline fuel supply system available on the vehicle. The gas supply tank is specially processed by the group, careful calculation of pressure, durability, weld quality . ensures safety for vehicles when used.

'The signal will be transmitted from the control box that supplies gasoline through the control box that supplies gas with a parallel system. The hard part is the electronic algorithm to handle the signal received at the control box to supply gas, and transmit the appropriate signal to the machine to operate . ' - Mr. Huynh Thanh Cong, a member of the group, remembers again.

How much gas injection rate, which timing is suitable to ensure a stable vehicle . is what the group has to do many tests to give a correct coefficient.'Gas and gas quality in the market is not very stable. Just a little different from the standard is that the team must recalculate from the beginning when experimenting. This motorcycle is only suitable for a certain gas and gas standard , 'said Mr. Dung.

Not only is the fuel problem difficult, experiments in cases such as when the vehicle accelerates, loads, bumps, uphill, downhill . are also carefully reviewed by the group bit by bit before going out. experiment.

The group spent two years embracing the idea, one year to embark on an experiment, finally using multi-fuel motorbikes to officially launch people at the exhibition of thirteen green energy-saving products and energy. two in HCMC last August. The vehicle has an additional gas tank (4kg) next to the fuel tank (5 liters), which can run 500km to run out of fuel under normal conditions. Vo Le Hoai Phuong, a member of the group, shared: ' Fuel-efficient cars and less polluting the environment will be a trend in the future. Especially in a country with as many motorcycles as our country '.

However, Mr. Dung added: 'The assumed scenarios for vehicles are all done in the laboratory and the campus. If you want to put the car into practice, you must definitely put the car on the real terrain to verify and adjust. The complete research is still concerned by the school '.

1. Fuel-powered vehicle responds well to speed and load according to the Japan 10 cycle.

2. The vehicle's acceleration is reduced when using gas fuel. However, the acceleration is not much changed when the car runs at low download speeds.

3. The concentration of CO emission decreases when the vehicle speed increases, CO emissions decrease by more than 60% when the vehicle reaches the speed from 40km / hr.

4. CO 2 emission concentration decreased by more than 10% when using gas fuel.

5. The combination of liquid-gas fuel helps the car to travel longer distances, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce environmental pollution.
