Salamanca, Spain, is the home of two churches. ' Ancient church', simply called ' Catedral Vieja ', was built around the middle of the 12th century. Therefore, this may be one of the oldest churches in Europe.
The other church, called ' Catedral Nueva' or ' New Church, ' is no longer new to today's standards, but it is new when it is given the name.

The astronaut appears on the entrance to the new Church, at the side, parallel to the entrance. This astronaut sits on a tree trunk, with a full range of shoes and helmets, placed on his chest that appears to be a respiratory device, connected to two tubes to his backpack behind his back. The astronaut's right hand was holding something like a vines, like a kind of saddle that was placed across the waist. His left hand grabbed a leaf beside him. His face showed a rather stunned state.
But, how can this happen? Astronauts cannot survive when this church is built. It seems that the carved image was in fact part of the church restoration process in 1992. At that time, 'Puerta de Ramos ' (this is the name of the new church entrance) there were considerable damages. after a few centuries of existence.
The renovation process may have been done by stone mason Miguel Romero under the supervision of Jerónimo García de Quiñones. Traditionally, during the restoration of the church , people often added something from modern times, and in this case, those in charge of restoration had chosen an astronaut's image.
However, proponents of alternative hypotheses argue that the astronaut image was actually carved much earlier and the restoration work merely mended the damage on the carved carvings. onion. The mystery lies in the fact that the church facade photographs before restoration and the witnesses' accounts of the church entrance are extremely scarce, making the debate even more intense.
The astronaut statue was damaged by vandals in 2010, according to the Ancient Code page. On the Internet spread pictures showing astronauts missing their right arm and deformed faces. The damage was repaired later.

The city also has other strange carvings, such as a facade of the University of Salamanca, a very detailed and varied stone carvings, depicting all types of shapes and designs. In that carved picture, there is a human skull with a frog created on top . This carvings are quite ancient because the façade was constructed in 1529. It is believed that this figure represents Prince Juan , who died in 1497 when he was only 20 years old. According to the Cultural Travel Guide, this frog represents the doctor who treated the Prince.

Another carved figure of 'Easter Eggs ' is located very close to the astronaut statue and also located on the new entrance to the Church. Dragons are often depicted in cultural carvings similar to the dragons mentioned here. But, this dragon stands out in that it seems to be enjoying a cone of ice cream with three ice cream on the left. The dragon enjoying ice cream is another example of restoration in 1992.
