NASA discovered 461 new potential planets
Kepler Space Telescope of the US Space Agency (NASA) has discovered 461 new potential planets.

The new discovery raises the total number of new planet candidates because the Kepler space telescope found 2,740 planets, of which 105 were identified. Most newly discovered planets are the same size as Earth or larger.
NASA Kepler glasses discovered 461 new planet candidates.
'Two years ago, we discovered 1,200 potential planets. A year later, we discovered more planet candidates in different sizes, including very small planets . twice as Earth and smaller , "astronomer Christopher Burke, belonging to the Kepler telescope project, said on Reuters.
Newly discovered planets include a planet about 1.5 times the size of the Earth and orbiting a star like the Sun, with orbit about 242 days. This is the distance considered appropriate to survive liquid water - one of the conditions necessary for life to grow.
The Kepler telescope began operation in 2009, with the mission to determine how many stars in our Galaxy exist in a planet the size of Earth. Because these planets are more likely to exist liquid water on the surface.
'You need a very special condition to have liquid water. Water cannot exist on planets too close to the star because it is too hot. Water does not exist in planets too far from the parent star because the temperature there is very cold. We are trying to find planets in this very special area, ' said Christopher Burke.
In a related study, astronomers determined that about 1/6 of the Sun-like stars have Earth-like planets orbiting them.
