Some members of the crew who made the last flight of the Endeavor were present at a ceremony held at the California Science Center yesterday, the AP reported. Among these, notable is the astronaut Mark Kelly, Arizona husband of state Gabrielle Giffords.
Endeavor is expected to be taken to Los Angeles International Airport by a Boeing 747 next year . The 747 will fly three times in Los Angeles sky before landing. The next process is the biggest challenge for those who carry the Endeavor ship to the " city of angels ".
One would have to calculate the shuttle about 40 meters long and has a wingspan of about 23 meters to safely move on the streets of Los Angeles, on the journey from the airport to the California Science Center.
NASA stopped the shuttle program in July, after three decades of operation. Museums in Washington, Florida and New York will in turn receive NASA " retired " shuttles, as well as models of these ships' engines.
