NASA released photos of distant 'glowing' galaxies

The Hubble Space Telescope captures a stunning image of the galaxy NGC 3175 more than 50 million light-years away.

"The galaxy can be seen across the frame from the Hubble space telescope. The mix of glowing gas fragments, the dark cloud of dust, the glowing core at the center, and the swirling vortexes spiral creates a beautiful spectacle, " the European Space Agency (ESA) described in a statement posted on NASA's website.

NGC 3175 is located in the constellation Antlia , also known as the constellation Jupiter, approximately 50.92 million light-years from Earth (a light-year is the distance light travels in a vacuum over a period of one year, equivalent to 9.5 trillion km). The galaxy was taken with a wide field camera 3 - the latest and most advanced technology in the Hubble space telescope technology.

Hubble was launched in 1990 and operates in orbit of the Earth at an altitude of about 610 km. After nearly three decades, it has taken so many incredible images of the distant universe. Earlier this month, NASA also released a direct photograph of NGC 5468 - the spiral spiral galaxy 140 million light years away.
