NASA sets a record concerning the female astronaut: History will now call Christina Koch

With continuous development, NASA over time has continuously set extremely special records, and then manually crushed them with other records .

And recently, NASA again confirmed a new record, related to the female astronauts. This time , human history called Chritina Koch - who just broke the record of female astronauts attending the longest single journey in aerospace history .

Specifically, on December 28, Christina Koch has been in space for 288 days - a record of time spent on a female astronaut's flight. Not all! Koch is expected to return to Earth in February 2020, when it will be more than 300 days in space and will surpass the record for the longest female astronaut held by Peggy Whitson.

During his stay on the International Space Station, Koch completed 4 spacewalk missions , along with his best friend Jessica Meir set a record as an astronaut team. First female in history to perform spacewalk on October 12, 2019.

It is known that at least 15 female astronauts before Koch have ever walked in space, but all have male companions. And this time within more than 7 hours on a mission outside the ISS range, Koch's astronaut team accomplished its goal of repairing the external solar controller.

"There are many people who follow the inspirational stories, and I think this is such a story," Koch said in October.

As planned, Koch will continue to perform 2 more spacewalk in January 2020 with a partner named Meir. The longest record in space in the United States still belongs to Peggy Whitson with 438 days on the ISS, but this amount of time is accumulated from 5 different trips. And Koch, you only need one.

"This is a great honor," - Koch shared. "Peggy has always been my hero, my mentor for years."

"Actually the problem is not how many days you spend on the (universe), but what you do each day. For me, every day in the universe is a wonderful experience."

Speaking of Koch, she has a master's degree in electrical engineering, is a veteran member of the Antarctic and Greenland expeditions, and a member of NASA's Goddard Aerospace Center design team.
