In September 1969, astronauts (from left) Charles Conrad Jr., Richard F. Gordon Jr. and Alan L. Bean are assigned by NASA to land on the Moon during the Apollo 12 mission .

During a training session on October 6, 1969, astronaut Charles Conrad Jr., commander (facing the camera) and astronaut Alan L. Bean, a key member of the Apollo 12 mission practiced tissue. Simulate activity on the lunar surface to select samples and take photos. The exercise is held inside the Crew Training Building at Kennedy Space Center.
