Paraguay officials said the current flood forced about 13,000 households to live on the banks of the Parana and Paraguay rivers.

In the announcement, the Paraguay National Emergency Ministry said about 60,000 people are affected by floodwaters on rivers. Floods are also affecting many areas in the capital city of Asuncion, leaving 1,000 households evacuated. Functional agencies warn, the risk of flooding water will continue to last 24-48 hours.

The president of Paraguay, Horacio Cartes, said he had sent aid to the affected people and urged the authorities to promote rescue activities. Mr. Cartes will be sworn in as President next month.

Meanwhile, the Chantal Tropical Storm is also landing on the southern and eastern coasts of Dominican Republic causing heavy rain and flooding. Under this situation, Dominica officials warned people not to leave the house. Many offices, companies and schools had to temporarily shut down. International airlines must also cancel flights from Las Americas international airport and Joaquin Balaguer airport to Brazil, Haiti and the United States.

According to the Dominican National Meteorological Service, Tropical Storm Chantal is moving at a speed of 46km / h in the West and is expected to weaken in the next few hours. This is the third storm of the Atlantic hurricane season this year.
