Nearly 40 people in Saigon are infected with Zika virus

On November 14, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 3 more cases of Zika, bringing the number of infected people to 38 with Binh Thanh district with the most patients.

Representative of Ho Chi Minh City Preventive Medicine Center said that 13/24 districts of the city have patients infected with Zika virus. Districts with high number of cases are Binh Thanh (8 cases), District 2 (6), District 9, 12 (4), Hoc Mon, Tan Phu (3), District 4, 5, Binh Tan (2). One patient in districts 1, 10, Thu Duc and Can Gio.

The number of Zika patients is recorded nationwide to date 46. Daklak and Binh Duong are both 2 patients each, while Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen and Long An, Ba Ria - Vung Tau discover each place one shift. In addition, a 4-month-old baby in Daklak is the first Vietnamese baby to be recorded with a small head defect caused by her mother infected with Zika during pregnancy.

There are currently no limited recommendations to go to places where there are cases. People, especially pregnant women, need to actively prevent mosquito bites. Strengthen killing of mosquito and mosquito in living places and work places. Safe sex, use condoms to avoid sexually transmitted Zika virus.

Zika virus disease usually has a mild clinical manifestation but can cause serious consequences if infected in the early months of pregnancy because of the risk of minor deformities to the fetus. The routes of transmission are through Aedes mosquitoes, through blood transfusion, the mother passes on to the child. People with symptoms of suspected illness may have up to 30 hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City and medical facilities across the country to get blood for Zika virus testing for free.

Signs of Zika identification:

  1. A mild fever of 37.8-38.5 degrees C, fatigue, rash on the skin, pain in small joints in the hands and feet.
  2. Conjunctivitis, muscular pain, headache, eye pain, and weakness.
  3. A small number of patients may have abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, mucous ulcers or itching.
