New discovery about the ancient origin of grape wine

Until now, the scientific community noted the oldest grape wine traces found in the region of Zagros mountains of Iran in the year 5,400 -5,000 BC (about 7,000 years ago) , while the ancient wine The oldest in the world is believed to be rice made in China, which was born 9,000 years ago.

However, the results of research by scientists from the US, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, Israel and Georgia have just revealed that the community of people living in the South Caucasus region has been drinking wine before. Long time ago, more than 8,000 years ago.

Scientists have been conducting research for four years at two archaeological sites in Gadachrili Gora and Shulaveris Gora, about 50 kilometers south of the Georgian capital, Tbilisi.

Drinking alcohol made from grapes has emerged since the Neolithic period.

Earlier, archaeologists also discovered many debris from large ceramic jars that could hold up to 300 liters of water. Outside these pots are decorated with grape-related motifs.

According to expert Stephen Batiuk of the University of Toronto (Canada), the team used new technologies to assess ceramic fragments, as well as scale deposits inside the bottle.

The results of chemical analysis have identified tartaric acid, fingerprints, grapes and alcohol. In addition, there are three types of organic acids: malic acid, succinic acid and citric acid in these vessels.

This suggests that the consumption of grapes made from grapes has been around since the Neolithic period, around 6,000 BC, ie 600-1,000 years before the time given in previous studies.

The Neolithic period began around 15,200 BC in the Middle East and ended around 4,500 and 2,000 BC.

During this period, people began to build farms, raise cattle, and craft sophisticated stone tools, crafts and weaving.

According to Mr. Batiuk, at this time, people grow grapes with high productivity, under similar environmental conditions in France and Italy. Alcohol played an important role in social life at that time and the making of ceramics was also born during this period.
