New discovery about the role of the ocean with climate

Russian oceanographers have for the first time discovered a link between changes in water temperatures in the North Atlantic Ocean and turbulent heat currents.

This study allows the creation of a more accurate climate model of the interaction between the ocean and the atmosphere, thereby more accurately predicting storms and tsunamis.

Scientists at the Moscow Institute of Oceanography at the Russian Academy of Sciences said they have gathered a lot of data about turbulent flows in the North Atlantic over the past 100 years, enough to help scientists. Learn to give the correct answer as to why the ocean water suddenly became cold. Previously, this answer was based on statistics for a maximum of 40 years.

With the cycle of water temperature variation of 50-70 years being the highest in the North Atlantic region, Sergei Gulev, the head of the Oceanographic laboratory, said that in many models, the temperature change is related to global phenomena such as the formation of tropical storms or heavy rains in Europe and North Africa.

From this factor, scientists have discovered the cause of temperature contrast, ie turbulent flow of heat on the ocean surface - the interaction between seawater and the atmosphere.

The thermal balance on the ocean consists of two sources of sunlight and turbulent heat currents that move large amounts of water. The impact of sunlight is almost unchanged, that is, chaotic heat currents are responsible for temperature changes.

According to the above theories, scientists confirm that the oceanic hypothesis is 10 years or more - a certain increase in heat flow leads to an increase in water temperature; In less than 10 years, the reverse water temperature drops.

Mr. Sergei Gulev explained in large scale, the most important role of ocean water temperature - that is the slow climate effect; Short-term factors are air - the climate component affects quickly. On the whole, the ocean decides the currents, which means deciding both the heat and moisture content of air and soil.
