New fruit ripening method

Australian scientists have just discovered how to ripen fruits as soon as they are transported. The new technology promises to revolutionize the fresh fruit industry, according to Reuters.

In most cities, fruits are transported to supermarkets in an immature state.

Supermarkets then use ethylene gas, a natural plant growth hormone, to accelerate the ripening process.

However, Professor Bhesh Bhandari and colleagues at Queenland University have found a new, lower-cost fruit ripening technique.

The team of scientists has developed a method that helps turn ethylene gas into a powder, allowing fruit ripening during transport.

'We just need to sprinkle a small amount of this powder into fruit batches during transportation. Only 40 grams of flour is enough to make about 20 tons of mango . ' , Professor Bhandari said.

Binh Ho, another member of the research team, said that ethylene in powder form is safe, stable and cheaper than gas.

'The new method saves a lot of money. Some fruit garden owners tell us they spend at least $ 1.4 to ripen 4kg of fruit , 'Professor Bhandari said.

The research team has registered patent rights for the above fruit ripening powder.
