New super hard carbon, superior to diamond

US scientists have discovered a new form of super hard carbon, which can be applied more than diamond thanks to its ability to withstand pressure from all directions.

Carbon is the 4th most abundant element in the universe and exists in many forms, collectively known as allotrope , including graphite, graphene, and the hardest form in nature that humans have ever known as diamonds.

To create a new allotrope, researchers at Stanford University and the Carnegie Institute of Science (USA) compressed hard carbon at pressures greater than 400,000 times the normal pressure.

As a result, new types of carbon can withstand tremendous pressure without any matter, except diamonds, can withstand.

Unlike other forms of crystalline carbon such as diamond, hardness depends heavily on the orientation of the crystals to be arranged, the new form of carbon does not have a certain form due to the non-repeating molecular structure, meaning that the new form suffers Good force from all directions.

If this is correct, the new carbon can be applied to many purposes without diamonds.
