New technology to treat human waste by sea water

According to a study, the toilets will be built on rare freshwater islands, with a water system that distilled from the sea according to Ozon technology and a system to handle toilet waste.

On October 7, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Naval Military Science and Technology Council accepted the topic of "Research on technology and waste treatment of people on the island by sea water" by TS. Nguyen Van Paste, Department of Materials Technology, University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City) is the director.

Dr. Nguyen Van Paste said, he and his colleagues tested the design, construction of sanitation facilities (for 12 people) and the waste treatment system of the people on Truong Sa island.

The content of the study is divided into 2 phases: Phase 1 is research on design and construction of sanitation facilities (12 people), treatment system and waste treatment process of people on land. The construction, installation and transfer of toilet systems, waste treatment systems and toilets will be carried out in phase 2.

In the experimental study on land, TS. Nguyen Van Paste has designed and built a seawater distillation system (or reused water, rain water) into fresh water by solar energy and built new toilets and waste treatment systems.

As a result, the research team successfully fabricated freshwater distillation equipment from sea water with solar energy with a distillation rate of 3-5 l / day in the dry season and 1-2 l / day in the rainy season. . At the same time, offering solutions to recycle waste water used to flush toilet with ozone technology, as well as successfully research the process of treating waste of people on the island.

The construction and installation of TS treatment systems. Nguyen Van Paste and his colleagues carried out the toilet area of 3.6m x 2.9m, height of 3.6m, with 2 toilet compartments and 1 Ozon generator compartment, 2 toilets, 2 washers . Fresh water distillation system from the sea consists of 6 modules (1,134m2 / 1 modules) with a glass area of 6.8m2 arranged directly on the roof of the toilet. The rainwater collection system is arranged according to the sloping glass roof that flows down the trough and follows the pipe leading to the composite water tank.

The operation of the treatment system is carried out step by step, the water after being treated in and without the smell. The amount of distilled water is collected in one day and night in the dry season, about 30-35 l / day and 8-12 l / day in the rainy season. The system of toilets and process of technology processing is stable, safe operation.

At the end of the acceptance test, most of the delegates present suggested large-scale deployment of this research on the islands.
