New world record for wireless data transmission

With a wireless data transfer rate of up to 6 gigabits per second at a distance of 37km, a new world record has just been set.

This is the result of the ACCESS research project, which stands for "Advanced E Band Satellite Link Studies" . This working group includes researchers from the University of Stuttgart and Fraunhofer Institute of Solid State Applied Applications, Germany.

Data transmission at record speeds is carried out on the frequency band E normally used for satellite and ground transmissions. The team used Fraunhofer's transistors technology , which achieves transmission power of up to 1 W, while maintaining very high amplification efficiency.

The potential of this technology is very positive, especially in terms of cost. And so, they can be more developed in rural, remote and remote areas. Current Internet technologies that want to be deployed in these areas need to invest in infrastructure very much, and still rely heavily on ground transmission - satellites, which are limited in bandwidth and have high latency. due to the distance of the transmission line too far.

ACCESS's next step is to design new generation communication systems that integrate this super-fast wireless data transfer technology.
