No sex hormones still ... give birth
A 25-year-old Indian woman gave birth to a daughter in a situation that was considered extremely special: she was removed from the pituitary gland - the dominant part of sex development - by having a tumor. She underwent intrauterine insemination at a hospital in Madurai City, southern India.
V Sunitha, a doctor at Vikram Hospital in Madurai, described this birth as the rarest in rare cases.

The pituitary gland is a small organ located at the base of the brain, which is responsible for producing hormones that govern growth and sexual maturity. In this woman, the pituitary gland was removed in 2002.
Often, such women do not conceive because the body does not produce enough hormones in the uterus to help in fertilization and maintain a pregnancy state. Even if they are pregnant, they will often get it from early contractions, or they will die.
The woman said she was hospitalized in October 2006, and did not have her period.
She underwent hormonal tests and was fertilized in utero, before being controlled throughout pregnancy with a series of ultrasound devices and hormone analysis.
"After 37 weeks, we conducted a caesarean section and took out a healthy 2.3 kg girl last week. Now both mother and daughter are safe," Sunitha said.
