Unlike those two, Tawakkul Karman is a Yemeni politician and human rights activist. She is a key member of Al-Islah, the main opposition party in Yemen and the leader of "Women journalists without chains".

In the insurgency movement still taking place in Yemen, Ms. Karman organized student demonstrations in the capital Sanaa to speak to President Ali Abdullah Saleh and his administration. She was twice arrested and released again this year.
